LUCY HOLDEN - Photography Speaker

Lucy is an accomplished cruise lecturer having worked for numerous cruise lines and presents photography in a practical common sense style. Making use of the comedic side to her personality, she encourages audience participation, is easy on the ears, and makes learning fun.

Lecturing to audiences large or small, Lucy is in her element sharing her years of experience behind the camera along with her anecdotes of her extensive travels around the globe. She also enjoys holding seminars and camera clinics, specialising in all aspects of digital photography from the basics of editing shots to audiovisual presentations, so that guests can produce their own masterpieces, which are often submitted for onboard competitions.

As an additional attraction on certain cruises, Lucy has spearheaded specific special-interest themed cruises. These include, Fred. Olsen’s award-winning onboard enrichment programme,‘Vistas’. With prior arrangement and enabling her to further share her passion with guests on a more intimate level, Lucy has been able to arrange a range of Cruise Tours to complement guests for which  programmes, have been specially designed to help guests see places related to the theme, first hand, really helping bring the lectures to life.

More About Lucy

Lucy left education and continued her interest in photography and 1983 opened her studio in London, where she specialised in wedding and portrait photography. During this period she gained Licentiateships with distinctions, with the Master Photographer Association (LMPA) and The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (LSWPP).

In the late 1980s, in order to expand her capabilities, and increase her photograph stock levels, she decided to travel the world visiting, South East Asia, The United States of America, Europe, The Emirate States, and many Caribbean Islands. Whilst travelling she spent 18 months in Vietnam, Cambodia & Thailand both traveling and taking the opportunity to teach children many subjects, including special classes on photography.

On returning to the U.K. it was apparent that Photography had entered the ‘Digital’ age and she therefore undertook a period of specialist training in that field. At the same time she successfully completed a course at a Performing Arts School  in which she gained knowledge of Media Studies, all aspects of Audio Visual  and Stagecraft techniques. 

Lucy now makes a living as a wedding and portrait photographer and a creator of advertising images and undertakes commercial graphic design commissions.
